What is Regenerative Therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a regenerative medicine treatment that uses a patient’s own blood to heal damaged tissue. The treatment is made by separating and extracting the plasma and buffy coat portion of the blood, which contain high concentrations of platelets. PRP therapy is available at our clinic centres for sports injuries, tendon problems, arthritic and all joint problems. Due to PRP’s ability to heal and even regenerate injured or aging tendons, ligaments and joints, providing some patients with an alternative to surgery. However, due to lack of evidence, especially its long-term effect is unsure.

Commonly treated conditions with PRP:

Tendon Problems:

▪Tennis elbow (Outer side of elbow pain)
▪Golfers elbow (Inner side of elbow pain)
▪Plantar fasciitis
▪Achilles tendinopathy
▪Patellar tendinopathy
▪Supraspinatus tendinopathy
▪Trochanteric bursitis (lateral Hip pain)

PRP is suitable for:

1. Shoulder Pain:

  • Severe pain
  • Sudden swelling
  • An inability to raise your arm
  • Deformity to the shoulder joint
  • Inability to use your shoulder at all

2. Knee joint pain:

  • Swelling and stiffness
  • Redness and warmth to the touch
  • Weakness or instability
  • Popping or crunching noises
  • Inability to fully straighten the knee

3. Foot & Ankle Problems:

4. Arthritis:

5. Sports injuries

  • Mild to moderate arthritic joint problem.

What are the advantages for the patient?

Mild to moderate arthritic joint problem Patient consultation, diagnosis and PRP treatment can be carried out in the same appointment, maximum of 2 hours time. This is an outpatient procedure. Patient can return home after waiting for 20-30minutes in the clinic. The biologic substance (PRP) is prepared from the same patient receiving the PRP Injection.

What are the advantages for the patient?

Platelets contain growth factors which are important in the healing. PRP injection contains

3-10 times more concentrated platelets in comparison to the normal blood. This expedites

the natural healing process in the injured area.
